MOTS-c: Peptide Identity and Documentation
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide described in the scientific literature. This guide covers its name and documentation, without translating study findings into claims for an Astra product.
What the name refers to
Lee and colleagues introduced MOTS-c in a 2015 paper, describing a short open reading frame in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA region. The name abbreviates “mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA-c.” The reference describes the peptide’s identification; it is not a certificate for material supplied by another organization.
Residue count is an identity detail
Sixteen residues describes the peptide’s length. It does not describe the number of milligrams in a container or a purity percentage. A laboratory specification should identify the sequence and chemical form, including any terminal modifications or salt information relevant to the supplied material.
Terms such as mitochondrial-derived describe the scientific reference. They do not independently verify how a particular commercial sample was manufactured or what that sample contains.
Catalog quantities and concentration
Astra’s catalog contains MOTS-C 10mg, MOTS-C 20mg, and MOTS-C 500mg listings. Read the actual units and container details before comparing them. A quantity in mg and a concentration in mg/mL are different measurements; an abbreviated title does not resolve an inconsistent description.
This guide does not assert the container volume or convert the 500mg listing into a verified total amount. Ask Astra Biolabs for clarification of the supplied format and measurement basis.
Research references and batch reports
A publication can describe the peptide studied by its authors. It does not show that an Astra sample matches that peptide, has been tested by the same method, or has the same reported properties. A batch-specific report needs the matching identifiers, methods, units, and results.
Astra Biolabs does not currently offer a lab report for these MOTS-c listings. This page does not assert verified purity, sterility, safety, or any health or performance outcome.
Read the COA checklist and the analytical-methods guide. See the research-use policy; laboratory research only, not human or veterinary use.
